Google Business Profile Creation and Optimisation for UK Businesses

Our Google Business Profile optimisation helps UK businesses appear on Google Maps and in “near me” searches, where many local customers decide who to call. We create and verify new profiles, fix and optimise existing ones, and help you collect genuine reviews within UK law. Plain English, a 12-month roadmap and a fixed quote in pounds.

Get found on Google Maps and in “near me” searches

When someone in the UK searches for a plumber, a dentist or a locksmith, Google usually shows a map with a handful of local businesses before any websites. Those map listings come from Google Business Profiles. For many local firms, the profile brings in more calls than the website, because customers can see reviews, photos and opening hours and tap to call straight away.

Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. You cannot move your premises, but you can make your profile as relevant and complete as possible and build prominence through reviews, photos and consistent details across the web. That is the work we do.

Profile creation and verification, including service-area businesses

Many UK trades work from home or a yard and travel to customers. Google allows these service-area businesses to hide their address and list the towns or areas they cover instead, but setting it up wrong is a common cause of problems. We create your profile correctly from the start, choosing the right business name, categories and service area.

Verification can be the hardest part. Google decides which method to use, and increasingly asks for a video showing your signage, equipment or vehicle and proof you manage the business. We prepare you for it, and if your profile has been suspended or is stuck in review, we work through Google's reinstatement process with you.

The full Google Business Profile optimisation checklist

An optimised profile is complete, accurate and active. Most profiles we see have the basics filled in and little else, which leaves easy wins for any competitor who takes it seriously. We work through every section and keep it up to date as part of your 12-month roadmap.

Getting more Google reviews, legally, under UK law

Since 6 April 2025, the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 has banned fake reviews and incentivised reviews that are not clearly disclosed in the UK. The Competition and Markets Authority can fine businesses up to 10% of global turnover. Google's own policies have long prohibited fake and incentivised reviews too, and it can remove reviews or restrict profiles that break them.

So we only help you collect genuine reviews from real customers. That means asking at the right moment, making it effortless, and replying to every review, good or bad. Our NFC tap cards help: a customer taps the card on their phone and lands straight on your Google review page. No discounts in exchange for reviews, no review swaps, no shortcuts.

Your profile, local SEO and AI search

Your profile does not work alone. Google cross-checks it against your website and other listings, so your business name, address or service area and phone number must match everywhere. We tidy up inconsistent details on UK directories and make sure your website's contact and service pages support what your profile says.

Profile data also feeds AI answers. When Google's AI Overviews or Gemini summarise local businesses, they often draw on profile details and reviews. A complete, accurate profile with genuine reviews is one of the most practical things a small business can do for AI visibility, and it costs nothing to run beyond the work to maintain it.

Tracking calls, direction requests and map rankings by town

Every month we report what your profile is doing for the business: calls, website clicks, direction requests and how many people saw your listing. Those numbers come from Google's own profile performance data, and we explain them in plain English.

For businesses covering several towns, we also check where you appear on Google Maps across your service area, because your ranking in one town can be very different from the next. That shows where you are strong, where competitors are winning and where to focus effort, such as getting more reviews from customers in a particular area.

Why we understand how UK customers find local businesses

The UK economy runs on small firms. At the start of 2025 there were 5.7 million private sector businesses, and 99.2% of them had fewer than 50 employees (GOV.UK, Business population estimates 2025, published October 2025). Most are owner-run: the electrician covering a few towns, the clinic on a high street, the installer working across a county. That is who we build for, not big brands with marketing departments.

Our founder, AJ, has 20 years in marketing and learned the trade inside one of the big media agencies before choosing to work directly with business owners. UK customers search in a recognisable way: they go to Google first, type a service plus a town or postcode, tap a “near me” result on Google Maps, read the reviews, then call from their phone. Each step is a place you can win or lose the job, and we plan your marketing around every one of them.

We work with UK businesses remotely by WhatsApp, email and video call, with calls arranged around your working day. We do not have a UK office, and we will not pretend otherwise. Our UK client Ultra Doors Security, which supplies security doors, roller shutters and industrial doors across North West England, is a good example of the trades and service-area businesses we understand best: firms that cover a region, not a single shopfront.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Google Business Profile free?

Yes. Creating and running a Google Business Profile is free from Google. What you pay us for is the time and expertise to set it up correctly, verify it, optimise it and keep it active. We send a fixed quote in pounds with any VAT shown.

How do I verify my Google Business Profile?

Google chooses the verification method, and for many UK businesses it is now a short video. You usually need to show your signage, equipment, vehicle or premises and something proving you manage the business. We help you plan the video so it passes first time where possible.

Can I have a profile if I work from home or travel to customers?

Yes. Google allows service-area businesses to hide their address and list the areas they serve instead. This suits most trades, mobile services and home-based businesses. Setting it up correctly matters, because mistakes here are a common cause of suspensions.

Why was my Google Business Profile suspended, and can you fix it?

Common causes include keyword-stuffed business names, an address Google cannot verify, a service-area business showing a home address, or recent changes that triggered a review. We find the likely cause, correct it and work through Google's reinstatement request with you. We cannot guarantee Google's decision, but we give you the best chance.

How long until I rank higher on Google Maps?

Fixing categories, services and details can make a difference within weeks, while reviews and prominence build over months. Distance from the searcher always plays a part, so results vary by town. We track your map visibility across your service area so you can see progress.

Is it legal to incentivise Google reviews in the UK?

Since 6 April 2025, the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 has banned fake reviews and incentivised reviews that are not clearly disclosed, and Google's policies prohibit incentivised reviews on its platform. Do not offer discounts or freebies for reviews. We help you get more genuine reviews by asking well and making it easy, including with NFC tap cards.

How often should I post on my profile?

Regularly enough that the profile looks active, which for most small businesses means every week or two. Recent jobs, seasonal offers and photos of your work all count. We can post for you or show you how to do it quickly from your phone.

How much does Google Business Profile optimisation cost?

It depends on whether you need a new profile, verification help or suspension recovery, and how many locations you have. We send a fixed quote in pounds sterling with any VAT shown and no hidden fees. The profile itself stays yours, whatever happens.
