Win the map pack: where local calls start
When someone searches for a plumber, physio or cafe nearby, Google usually shows a map with a small group of businesses before the regular results. Those listings get the calls, direction requests and website clicks, often before anyone scrolls further. Your Google Business Profile, formerly Google My Business, decides whether you're in that group.
For many Australian small businesses it's the single most valuable free listing they have. Yet a lot of profiles are half finished, sitting in the wrong category or full of outdated hours. Getting the basics right often makes a noticeable difference.
Google Business Profile creation and verification
We can create a new profile, claim an existing one, or move a profile that's stuck in an old employee's or agency's account into your control. Verification has become stricter, and Google now often asks for video verification showing your signage, tools or vehicle. We'll guide you through it so it doesn't drag on for weeks.
If your profile has been suspended or keeps failing verification, we'll work out why, fix what's causing the issue and help you through Google's reinstatement process where possible. Google makes the final decision, so we can't promise an outcome, but we know what a clean, well-documented request looks like.
Full profile optimisation
Optimisation is about giving Google, and your customers, complete and accurate information. As a certified Google Partner we know how the profile fields are meant to be used, and we set yours up with care rather than stuffing in keywords that risk a suspension:
- The right primary and secondary categories
- Services, products and clear descriptions
- Service areas, hours and holiday hours
- Quality photos of your work, team and premises
- Regular posts and updates
- Links to the right pages on your website
Reviews done right: the ACCC and Australian Consumer Law
Reviews influence both your ranking and whether people call, but in Australia how you collect them matters. The ACCC's guidance on online reviews is clear: be transparent about any commercial relationship or incentive, don't publish misleading reviews, and don't hide the negative ones, because selectively removing bad reviews can mislead customers just as much as fake ones. Posting fake reviews about your own business or a competitor can breach the Australian Consumer Law, and penalties can be significant.
Our approach is simple: ask every customer, the same way, with no strings attached, and reply to every review politely. Our custom NFC tap cards take customers straight to your Google review page with one tap, which makes asking easy at the counter, in the clinic or on the job.
Service-area businesses and tradies: ranking without a shopfront
Plenty of Australian businesses work from home or a van, and that's fine. Google lets service-area businesses hide their address and list the suburbs or regions they cover. What you shouldn't do is use a PO box or a virtual office address, as that breaks Google's rules and is a common cause of suspensions.
Your profile alone won't rank you in every suburb you serve. We connect it with genuinely useful area pages on your website, consistent business details across directories and steady reviews, which together help you show up across your service area.
How much does Google Business Profile optimisation cost?
Our Google Business Profile optimisation starts from $3,500 AUD per year. That covers setup or cleanup, full optimisation, ongoing posts and updates, review generation support and plain-English monthly reporting on calls, direction requests and website clicks, all mapped out in your 12-month roadmap.
If you'd rather manage it yourself, AJ is happy to show you how to keep your profile in good shape. Some owners like to post their own updates once it's set up properly, and we'll support whichever way works for you.

We know how Australian customers search and buy
AJ, our founder, has spent 20 years in marketing. He cut his teeth inside one of the big media agencies, working on campaigns with serious budgets and serious scrutiny. These days he works directly with business owners, bringing that same discipline to budgets that have to earn their keep. No layers of account managers, no jargon, and no pushing services you don't need.
Australia is a small-business economy. There were 2,814,778 actively trading businesses at 30 June 2026, and around 97% of them employ fewer than 20 people (ABS, Counts of Australian Businesses, August 2026). That means tradies, clinics, cafes, agents and service businesses competing suburb by suburb, often with the owner answering the phone. Our work is built for that reality: lean budgets, real enquiries, and reporting you can read in five minutes.
Australians search on Google first, then check Google Maps, reviews and your website before they call. Plenty of our clients are service-area businesses that travel to the customer, so we plan around suburbs, regions and drive times, not just a street address. Our Australian clients include a day spa and an assisted stretching studio on the Gold Coast, a 24/7 towing company in Perth and a real estate agent on Sydney's Lower North Shore.

Frequently asked questions
Is Google My Business the same as Google Business Profile?
Yes. Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile, but it's the same free listing that appears on Google Search and Maps. Many people still search for the old name, so you'll see both used.
How much does Google Business Profile optimisation cost?
Our Google Business Profile optimisation starts from $3,500 AUD per year. That includes setup or cleanup, full optimisation, ongoing posts, review generation support and monthly reporting. The profile itself is free from Google.
Do I need a physical address or shopfront to have a profile?
No. Service-area businesses such as tradies and mobile services can hide their address and list the areas they cover. You do need a genuine business location for verification, and PO boxes or virtual offices aren't allowed.
How long until I show up on Google Maps?
Once your profile is verified it can appear on Maps fairly quickly, but ranking well in the map results takes longer and depends on competition, distance and reviews. Improvements often build over a few months of consistent work.
Can you remove negative or fake reviews?
We can't remove genuine negative reviews, and under ACCC guidance you shouldn't try to hide them. We can report reviews that break Google's policies, such as fake or abusive ones, and help you write calm, professional responses that reassure future customers.
Can I offer customers a discount for leaving a review?
We don't recommend it. Google's review policy doesn't allow incentives for reviews, and the ACCC's guidance says any incentive behind a review must be made clear and you shouldn't only seek positive ones. Asking every customer the same way, with no reward, is the safe approach.
My profile is suspended or won't verify. Can you help?
Yes. We'll look for the likely cause, such as an address issue, keyword-stuffed business name or category mismatch, fix it, and guide you through reinstatement or video verification. Google makes the final call, so we can't guarantee the outcome, but we know what it usually needs to see.
Can I rank in suburbs or towns where I don't have an office?
Distance from the searcher is a big factor, so it's harder, but not impossible. Setting your service areas, building useful suburb pages on your website and earning reviews from customers in those areas all help you appear more widely.
